Values and Philosophy

I have worked nearly the entire gamut possible in the mental health field including state hospitals, federal prison, adolescent treatment, and adult inpatient and outpatient treatment. I started my career as a psychiatric nurse, worked many years in the field of addictions including; drugs, alcohol, gambling and sexual addiction, finally coming to work in private practice and as a workshop leader in helping people resolve traumatic reactions. I have a lot of compassion for those who struggle with trauma, nightmares, excessive worries, anxiety and panic attacks because I struggled myself with early childhood trauma and was able to work through it with the help of others. For this reason I never ask my clients to do something, i.e.use a method that I have not done or worked with myself. I strongly believe one must walk their talk and live in integrity to feel healthy. I have been blessed to have traveled and lived in many countries, and to have had the opportunity to have studied cross cultural psychology experientially. My primary purpose for traveling in other countries was to study with various teachers on the nature of consciousness. I lived, for example, with a group of Indians studying indigenous medicine in the Amazon jungle of Columbia. I also traveled through India, Europe, Canada, Latin America, Mexico and Turkey studying the psychological teachings contained in the religious teachings, histories, sacred sites and art of these cultures.

Payment Information and Hours

I provide Online or In person Counseling. I also offer a free initial one hour consultation which allows us to meet each other in a neutral space, and you get a sense, through spending time with me if you would feel comfortable working with me. I feel it is important to meet your therapist first and interview them as you need to know if you feel like this person engenders trust and the values that you are looking for in a person. Fees are either through insurance or based upon a sliding scale based upon income per year. As I work online with people in other nations, as well as military and NSA personal here and abroad, my hours vary and am open to meeting very late in the evening as well as regular business hours. Please contact me to schedule a free consult at: 805-266-3734
